Charles Anthony Grieder, Sr. 75, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2025.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, on December 23, 1949, Charles attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he was a proud member of TKE fraternity. In 1979, he moved to California, where he played drums in several bands and began building the life that would shape his future. It was while working at a hospital there that he met the mother of his child. Charles later worked for ITT before moving his family to Georgia in 1989.
Once in Georgia, Charles pursued his love of craftsmanship and antiques, opening a picture frame shop in Stone Mountain befor relocating to Woodstock in 1995. When his son, Charlie Jr., was in high school, Charles opened another frame shop in Woodstock. Alongside his work, he often sold antiques at shows and enjoyed searching for hidden treasures in antique stores.
Music was always close to his heart. He loved playing the drums and often shared that passion with his son-even taking Charlie to his band practices in California, where he'd fall asleep to the music. He also cherished travel, beach trips with his family, and any adventre that brought joy to those he loved. Charles worked tirelessly to provide a good life for his son and proudly attended Charlie's graduation from basic training at Fort Benning where he enlisted in the Army.
Charles is survived by his children, Charlie Grieder, Jr. (Meghan) and Samantha Grieder Malhotra (Shawn); grandchildren Trinity, Liam, Lily, and Carson; and his sisters, Geri (Ed) Rahm and Robin (Ben) Smith, along with many nieces and nephews. He as preceeded in death by his parents, Charles Grieder and Helen Gorman, and his sisters Helene and Carol.
Charles will be remembered for his love of music, antiques, and adventure, but most of al for his dedication to his family,. Charles was cremated, and his family will honor his wishes by scattering his ashes at a later date.
