Dayna Upchurch Mahaffey

Dayna Upchurch Mahaffey passed away at the age of 72 years old on September 9^th, 2023. Dayna was born on May 18^th, 1951, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Tyre and Madeline Upchurch.

She became a graduate of Wilton School, certified to teach baking and designing cakes for all occasions, which she did. Dayna also worked for the United States Postal Service for 38 years. Of the many titles that Dayna had while working for USPS, the most cherished was Postmaster. She served Lexington, Auburn, Ellijay, and Watkinsville, Georgia with great pride. As Postmaster, she joined the Georgia Chapter of NAPUS. Dayna served as Editor of Publication and later as President of the Georgia Chapter of NAPUS.

Dayna was passionate and talented at many arts in addition to cake baking and decorating. She enjoyed Square and Round Dancing with her Husband, Melvin Mahaffey. Dayna was also gifted with the abilities of calligraphy, floral decoration, and photography. She enjoyed collecting stamps, travel, and watch birds on her squirrel proof bird feeder.

Dayna is proceeded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Upchurch.

She is survived by her husband Melvin, her step-children Tami Temple and Jason Mahaffey, siblings Robyn Ryan and Dennis Upchurch, sister-in-law Wanda Upchurch, and multiple beloved grandchildren.
