Gale May

March 22, 1949 — August 13, 2023

Gale May age 74 of Ellijay Ga was born March 22, 1949 and passed Sunday August 13th, 2023.  She was born in Ellijay Ga to Austin Harper and Ruth Starks Harper both (deceased). She is survived by sister Barab Ann Morse and husband Steve Morse. One son Linsey May and wife Amanda May. Two grandchildren Tyson May and Paisley May.  One brother David Harper (deceased) and wife Marilyn Harper. Niece Tina Bailey and Husband David Bailey. Niece Susan McVey and Husband Patrick McVey. Nephew Frank Harper and wife Melissa Harper. Great Nephews Parker Ellington, Jackson McVey, Preston McVey, and Will Harper. Great Nieces Roxy McVey and Merideth Harper. Also survived my numerous other relatives and close friends.

Gale graduated high school in 1967 and went on to attend college in Clarksville, GA. There she studied to be a beautician and received her degree in 2 years. After a short stint working under someone she opened her own beauty shop in town where she worked for several years before moving her shop to her home. Gale met Ronald May at a young age and they tied the knot in December of 1973.  They built a successful life together over the next 13 years before they welcomed a son into the world.  Medical conditions had made it difficult for them to have a child so they adopted Linsey May in 1986.  Gale was not shy about how proud she was to have been given the chance to adopt and be a mother.  A better person to be a mother couldn’t have been found anywhere.  Gale was the definition of a great wife and even more so mother.

Gale and Ronald traveled near and far throughout their lives. They loved seeing new places and experiencing new things.  They traveled to almost every state and overseas to places such as Europe, Russia, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, and Greece. In 2014 Gale’s dream of becoming a grandma came true when Tyson May was born and again in 2018 when Paisley May became a part of the family.  There was nothing in this world she was more proud of then her grands she called them.  She never passed up an opportunity to brag on her ball playing Tyson or sweet loving Paisley.  Gale’s faith in the lord was as strong as the day was long and she never once waivered no matter how tough things got. She knew where she was going, and she was proud of it and not afraid to share her faith with anyone. I know she is sitting on high looking over everyone she loved and reunited with all her loved ones gone before her.
