With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Theresa Hannon. She passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, in the comfort of her home with her son, Charles Hannon, and his wife, Carren, and daughter, Lynn McClay, by her side. While we were all so lucky to have had her with us as long as we did, no amount of time would have been enough. She now lives on in our hearts, holding a beautiful space filled with the love she so freely gave her entire life.
Theresa wore many hats during her time on this earth. She was a Mother, Daughter, Nana, Auntie TT, best friend, confidante and many more. To know her was to love her instantly. She had a way of making everyone she knew feel special, whether that be the people she loved so dearly or the person she had just met. She craved the "one-on-one" time with the people in her life and wasn't afraid to ask for it. She was happiest sitting at the kitchen table with her people, a fresh pot of coffee, and a deck of cards, playing her favorite game, "pay me". She would play for hours, somehow winning with the mischievous grin on her face.
Two things always came first for Theresa - her family and God. She was the first to pray for you and always had a patron saint to guide her prayers. Whether it be to Saint Anthony when you had lost something, Virgin Mary, for just about everything, Saint Christopher to keep you safe on the road, or St Joseph to help you sell your home, she constantly prayed, always looking out for her family.
Next to her faith, family was most sacred to her. She was fiercely protective and devoted to her family, always thinking of her loved ones before thinking of herself. She was selfless in that way, putting her needs aside if it meant she could be there for someone she loved.
She found unique ways to be there for you no matter the distance. Every card, note, text message, or voicemail was thoughtful and special to what you needed. There was no one quite like her, and she was special beyond measure.
All we are left with is a lifetime of love, memories, and appreciation for the role she filled in our lives. It brings us joy amidst the sadness that she is reunited with her dear husband, Charlie and all that has gone before her.
"No matter where I travel or just how far I roam, there is just no other place quite as nice as home " - Theresa Hannon; we know you are finally home.
